Thanks Jason,

Great write ups from Philly and Washington but I have to ask; No Pittsburgh? Come on man, you're practically there already

Even though I don't think we will have to worry about ROW when all is said and done, that should have been a goal IMO.

Thanks again for your great blogs and have a safe trip home!

Great read, loved the pictures and the insight on not just the hockey, but the fans, arena and area as well. Thanks for this, and if you think D.C. is cold, Canada is not your climate! Can't wait for the next one!

I know I feel sort of bad about potentially missing Pitt but it's about a 3 and a half hour drive from where I am based. Pretty long trek to make, especially coming back. That's some real tired driving. Tickets are a beast to get also. Pretty expensive for a nosebleed. That's how it goes for a team that is that successful though.

Due to some funny circumstances, we were able to grab an NHL off-ice official and ask him about the play. He said that the play was off the referees discretion and he must not have felt Richards had a clear chance at goal.

Matter of opinion and judgement obviously!

In the end it didn't matter.

If you ask Columbus, Detroit, and Toronto, I bet you they would disagree that it didn't matter.

this made me laugh. I hate Caps fans. I hate the "Who cares?" after the other team scores, and the tom green Unleash the Fury thing is just awkward to me. The Verizon Center itself is in a great part of DC..with the "fashion" district and Chinatown all right there.

Thanks for helping the Kings rack up a couple wins out there!

My 8th graders where I teach were in DC for spring break, just left yesterday and returned today after a five day trip. I used to go with them, went the first five years I taught before giving up my spot. Rain and snow eh? Sucks...

Been to Philly a couple times also. Went with some high school friends to see the Hawks play game four back in 2010 with the "great" Joe Biden in attendance. Flyers took game 4 5-3, but a great experience to be at a Stanley Cup Finals game.

Even nice to know that a year later, the Kings would have Mike Richards and then added Jeff Carter the year later before winning the Cup for the first time.

Kings really showed they are still one of the toughest teams in the West and a team that someone must go through to get to the Cup. The Sharks and Ducks both know that, even though they have climbed to the top of the Pacific. LA is built for the playoffs, not so sure about the Ducks, and the Kings own the Sharks at the moment as well.

Only thing I was not happy with was the fact that Quick was playing back to back on the road. Makes zero sense to me. He was not that sharp, and it almost cost them. Jones should have been in net last night, otherwise, why carry 2 goaltenders?

Richards should have been awarded the EN goal at the end. That was a horribly, missed call that cost them a regulation win. If that is a penalty, then it is a goal with the net empty and the player with a breakaway. Richards had the guy beaten, and the Caps defender knew it. They got a HUGE break and a HUGE point that they should not have gotten. Still, a win...and a regulation win in my book.

Hope you had an easy trip home. I didn't see your Philly blog a couple days ago, but just read it now. Great blog. I went to Philly in January for an Isles vs Flyers game, and basically had the same experience as you did. It was truly a blast. I've never gone to Washington, but I'm going to try to do that next year. Thanks for sharing; I really enjoyed these blogs.
